“Ivory Coast Smooth Jazz” (Sundays 6pm – 10pm)

David “Jazzman” Johnson is the Personality/Host of the Ivory Coast Smooth Jazz Show, which is aired on TOUCH 106.1 FM in Boston, from 6pm to 10 pm, every Sunday afternoon. He has also been recognized as one the hosts of the Newport Carefusion Jazz Festival in Newport, R.I. and the 2010 Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival in Boston, MA.

Mr. Johnson is one of Boston’s entertainment guru, starting back in the early 1990’s as general manager of Larry Woo Productions, and as business assistant to producer and artist’s developer, Maurice Starr. Artist developers and producers of R&B singing group New Edition and New Kids on the Block. In 1996, Mr. Johnson started the booking firm the AIE Group Inc., which served as one of Boston’s leading booking agents to some of New England’s pop, R&B and Jazz artists.

In 1995 Mr. Johnson moved into cable television production, by developing and producing the awarding winning cable show, “The Urban Pulse Magazine Show”, which was supported by Miami Vice, actor Phillip Michael Thomas and Grammy Award Winner Dionne Warwick. The show covered current events, community events, and jazz events in the Boston area. A few years later, Mr. Johnson was elected as vice president and CFO of BNN-TV, and served for over ten years.

Mr. Johnson, well known for his passion for Jazz, was asked in 2008 by the Touch 106.1 FM directors to create and host a smooth jazz show. Mr. Johnson states; “I am happy to be a part of the thriving jazz scene in the Boston area. As an avid jazz listener, and a personality for Touch 106.1 FM, it is a pleasure to be a part of a community-based radio station that caters to the broadcast needs in the city of Boston.
