NBA baller Daniel “Boobie” Gibson said it wasn’t easy getting the attention of his wife Keyshia Cole.

“The stylist, Rachel, she told me that [Keyshia] was somebody I should talk to. I was like, ‘Yeah, that’s Keyshia. I don’t mind that.’ She gave me her email,” explained Boobie.

He sent an email to Keyshia, but she didn’t respond at first. “I didn’t want to deal with no dudes right there at that moment. I just wanted to hustle,” she told the DJs at Power 105.1 in New York.

“I sent her a real gentleman-like email the first time. She ain’t respond. So, I got a little anxious,” he said, admitting that his follow-up missive wasn’t quite as nice.

“Somehow that made her respond, but you know Keysh, she was like, ‘You come off real harsh. That ain’t cool.’ So, I got her to respond,” he said.

After months of talking electronically, the two met face to face in L.A. while Boobie and the Cleveland Cavaliers were playing the Clippers. It was love at first sight, they agreed.

“She showed up in a Rolls. She pulled up. She hopped out. The rest is history,” he said. “I knew she was going to be my wife before I met her from her conversation and her mind.”

 “He was beautiful to me. I loved his lashes. He was sweet. He bought me a little teddy bear,” she said.

Keyshia and Boobie fans will get to see more of the couple when “Family First” premieres October 9 on BET.

“It’s about me and Keyshia,” Boobie said. “Us working and both trying to handle our business and put it together in a family atmosphere.”

The show will also feature Keyshia’s mother, Frankie Lons, who has been in rehab for four months. Keyshia said Frankie is doing better, but has had a relapse.

“She hasn’t went back to smoking, but she definitely had a couple slip-ups. We’re constantly working on it. The best thing is she knows when she messes up, and she’s still trying,” she said.
